Fun with Video Game Music…
Guess what…the two biggest song requests this semester are both Nintendo video games: Super Mario Bros. and Pokémon. I have to admit that until 5 minutes ago I didn’t know that Pokémon originated as a video game. Now this post ties together nicely.
You might think video game music isn’t serious business, I would disagree. Firstly, it’s significant for the simple fact that gaming is possibly, if I hazard a guess, one of the most common ways kids (and adults) listen to music. And furthermore, the music is interesting and in the case of Mario Bros., quite challenging.
If you’re thinking of a career in music, I think composing music for video games is as promising a field as any within the music industry as a whole.
